Phuket lies in the Andaman Sea, off Thailand’s
west coast and is often referred to
as the ‘Pearl of the
South’.
The
Island offers some of the best beaches in Southeast
Asia, particularly on the west coast. Most of
the interior of the Island is slightly elevated
with the highest peak Khun Phara 442
meters above sea level. This higher ground slopes
down to the beaches and rocky peninsulas affording
spectacular ocean views and sunsets; many of
our villas enjoy such locations.
Phuket has a culture of its own, combining
Chinese and Portuguese influences with that
of the Southern Thais, and the Chao Naam,
a nomadic seafaring ethnic group living entirely
from the natural resources of the sea.
Dining out in Phuket is a truly memorable
experience. Seafood is prominent on every menu.
The local fare is a blend of Thai, Malay and
Chinese influences. But there is also plenty
of international cuisine available. The price
of eating out is very reasonable and if you
venture into Phuket Town, you
can experience some of the best local cuisine
at incredibly low prices.
There is a lot to do on the Island
apart from relaxing on a white sandy beach.
For scuba divers, Phuket is in the world’s top
ten destinations, with spectacular sites all
around the Island and the neighboring small
islands. It’s a haven for yachtsmen too, with
two high quality marinas providing charters
and state of the art mooring facilities.
Other activities include elephant trekking,
sea canoeing, 4WD tours, horse riding, sports
fishing and cooking courses. Phuket Fantasea
offers an evening out with entertaining cultural
cabaret, suitable for the whole family. It is
near Kamala Beach, only 5-20 minutes
drive away from all of our villas.
Phuket is a golfers' paradise. There
are four great courses, including the renowned
Blue Canyon course, which has hosted
several international class events, including
the Johnny Walker Classic.
For
self-catering the Island offers many well stocked
modern convenience stores, including a large
branch of the Tesco Supermarket (popular
British high-street supermarket chain). Just
browse through the cookery books available in
your villa, choose your dishes and let the staff
purchase the food and prepare your meal.
